Waiting and waiting...

Good morning everyone,

I've lived in Japan for over 10 years so there are obviously many things about Japan that I love. One of the things I like is how honest the staff are about 'wait times'. For example, I took my iPod to get fixed and the staff said it would take about 10 days to 2 weeks but 4 days later they called me to tell me that it was ready.

In Western countries they do the opposite-for example, if it is going to be a 30 minute wait for a table at a restaurant the host will look you straight in the eye and say it will be 15-20 minutes. After you have waited for 20 minutes-you don't want to give up and go somewhere else so you keep waiting, and waiting, and waiting...I prefer the Japanese way-if it is going to take 10 minutes for a table, they say it might take 15 and then when it takes only 10 minutes you feel pleasantly surprised.

Maybe that is why I was so impatient about my internet connection-I am getting used to the Japanese style where they always do things a little bit faster than promised....ha ha!
