Cutting much is too much?

Good morning everyone,

Well, it's a beautiful day today! Sunny and a little cool but almost perfect! And...I saw that tomorrow I'll have sunny weather for my day off. Now, all I need to do is make a plan to do something tomorrow...ha ha! Well, no matter what I do, it's always better in nice weather, even if it's staying at home.

I read in the paper this morning that in its bid to cut costs, the DPJ has decided to get rid of the English materials being distributed to primary schools around the country. I haven't seen the books so I can't comment on how good they are but for the ministers to question the value of teaching English in primary schools and spend only 30 minutes debating it before deciding to scrap them is crazy. The cost of the books is minuscule compared to some of the other insane expenses the government is keeping. The spy satellite we sent into space yesterday cost \98 billion while providing enough textbooks for the whole country would cost \850 million-less than 1% of the cost of the satellite.

But the most depressing item in the story was that the government had received only around 350 complaints about this decision. Every school in the country should have the students spend one class writing a letter to the government. I'm sure it would be more productive than cleaning the windows or washing the toilets...ha ha!

Have a great day!
