Sleep on this...

It wasn't as warm as I was expecting yesterday. I mean, it was warm but there was still a bit of a chill in the air. I guess it is still March after all. Well, today is supposed to be slightly warmer with a high of 18C and tomorrow will be around 16C. Both days are supposed to be sunny. There is a 50-50 chance of rain on Tuesday. It had better not rain on Tuesday! I've got tickets to the Carp game!! Other than Tuesday, the week will be sunny and warm with highs pushing up to 21C! 

Do you have trouble sleeping at night? Thousands of people do. In fact, as high as 30% of the population has sleeping problems, so don't worry, you are not alone. I must admit that I am not one of those 30%. As soon as my head hits the pillow, I'm out like a light!

In today's paper there was an article about how to get a better sleep and there were a ton of great tips and advice.

Some of them were common sense, things we already know, like don't eat two hours before you go to bed and stuff like that, but some of them were interesting-things that I hadn't heard or thought about before.

So, if you are worried about your sleeping habits, read on!

First of all, as we get older we tend to sleep less. That's normal, but we still need six to seven hours of sleep a night. If you are a light sleeper and wake up often in the night, don't worry about it. As long as you are active in the day (and don't feel overly tired) it's no problem. As we get older, we are less active, so we tend to sleep lighter.

Also, get out in the sun. I know what you're does the sun help me sleep? Well according to the doctor, melotonin is produced by the body after being exposed to sunlight and melotonin helps us get a sound sleep.

Don't be on your computer or tv right up until you go to bed. All of the images on the screen make your brain more active and it's harder to sleep.

Here are some other tips he gave:

-Go to sleep by midnight. Get up at about the same time each morning.

- Eat regularly.

- Take a nap for just 15 to 20 minutes in the day. Don't nap in the evening.
- Eat dinner at least 2 hours before you go to bed.

- Don't read books in bed before going to sleep.
- Reduce the lighting in your room about one hour before you go to bed.

- Don't use alcohol as a tool to help you fall asleep.

- When going to sleep, keep your cell phone well away from your pillow.

What do you think? For me, I break a few of them...I always watch a bit of tv or surf the net before I go to bed and read for a bit once I get in bed.
