Good morning everyone,

You may not believe me if you look outside right now, but it will be warm and sunny some point. In fact, if you are one of those lucky people who start work around 10, it may be sunny and warm on your way to work. For the rest of us, we'll have to wait until our lunch break to step outside and enjoy the nice weather. The rest of the week will be nice-there'll be both sun and clouds and temperatures will be around 10C in the mornings with highs around 20C.

Well, I finally dragged myself to the Sweets Expo. And I have to tell you, if you are planning on going, it is just that-an expo. It isn't a festival. It isn't an exhibition or a fair. It is an expo.

In one pavilion, there are displays of products from all over Japan-in fact each area of Japan is given its own section to display typical souvenirs from their area. They were beautifully arranged in boxes and wrapped up and we couldn't see them or taste them or even buy them if were tempted. We just walked through the pavilion admiring the packaging...ha ha! it wasn't that bad, but it was close.

Then there was a section with some manufacturers displaying their popular or new products. Again, we could look at and hold them in our hands (the packages-not the food) but we couldn't taste them or see them or buy them.

Then it dawned on me-it was an "expo". An expo is basically a huge 'show' for the industry. If I were in the sweets-selling business or sweets-making business, it would have been perfect for me. But as a member of the sweets-eating public, it was not for me.

And it certainly wasn't for all the kids that were dragged there by parents who had the same misconception as me-they were to be found sitting all over the park playing with their DS or PSP and completely bored by the whole thing.

So, what am I trying to say...well, don't go if you aren't interested in looking at sweets. If you want to eat sweets, you're better off going to one of the 'food fairs' that pass through the department stores on a regular basis. You can get free samples and you can actually buy the product too, if you like.

Did anybody else go and enjoy it? Let me know what I missed!!

Have a great day!
