A busy day off...

Good morning everyone,

Yesterday's weather was great, wasn't it? And the good news is that it's going to be pretty much the same for the next two days! Today and tomorrow will have blue skies and warm weather. Then, Friday will see the mercury dip down to 14C. It'll stay cool for the weekend-but Sunday is looking sunny anyway. Then temperatures should climb back up on Monday to a high of around 19C or so...

Yesterday was one of those days where I just couldn't sit still I guess...first I got up and went for a run-about 10km. Then, after taking the garbage out, I went grocery shopping. With the tax going up, the grocery store was dead! It was great! ha ha!

I wolfed down a quick breakfast before heading to the supermarket, so when I got back from grocery shopping, I changed my clothes, stuffed some golf clubs into a small bag, hopped on my bicycle and pedalled up the small mountain to the local golf range to hit some balls. I've entered...hmmm...not entered...more like, I've been coerced to enter a golf tournament during Golden Week, so I've got to get some practice in if I don't want to embarrass myself too badly...

After that, I made lunch and did my dishes and had a 30-minute nap before heading off to Mazda Zoom Zoom Stadium to see the Carp Home Opener! I'm still wearing my 'Kurihara' shirt...even though he's not even on the roster at the moment (and hasn't really been playing much for the past couple of years). I think I was the only person wearing a 'Kurihara' jersey in the stadium! Most people were wearing shirts of the up and coming stars or of the recently retired Maeda. I think I might have to get a new one...the problem is that they cost a small fortune! And I don't want to have to buy a new one every time a player gets cut, traded or injured...besides that, I haven't really got a 'favourite' player at the moment. If I had to choose someone, I guess it'd be Maru...

But, I digress, I wanted to talk about the game, not my shirt...ha ha! The game was great! Why was it great!? Well, naturally because we won! The Carp hammered the Swallows 7-4. In fact, it wasn't even as close as the score sounded because last year's home run leader hit a 2-run homerun in the bottom of the 9th that made the score look closer than it really was. The Carp turned three or four double plays, they hit a couple of homeruns and Maru was only a double away from hitting for the cycle. What more could you ask from a game?!

Like any event in Japan, the food is important-I had a 'Sasebo burger', as usual, when I got there at about 5. It was the home-opener, so I figured they'd have some special events but they didn't, so I should've just stayed home and got an extra half an hour of sleep...ha ha! The burger was great though! And while I was eating my burger, I was approached by a young lady working for Chugoku Newspaper. She asked me to write a message to the Carp and then took my picture...I might appear in the paper! I might be famous! Ha ha! And I got a free towel and button out of the deal too!

It was a bit of a chilly ride home though! Brrr! I hope I didn't catch something...I've got a race this Sunday....Ahhhchhooooo!

Have a great day!
