Back on the bread...

Good morning everyone,

Well, it's raining...not much of a surprise, really, is it? The good news is that it'll clear up tomorrow and we'll have great weather for the rest of the week and into the weekend. Actually, now they are calling for a high of 24C on Sunday, which is actually a bit too hot for me to run in! No complaints though-it'll probably be a good 4C or 5C cooler in Futashika. If I remember, I'll take some pictures of the rhododendrons which are supposed to be beautiful there this time of year...

Yesterday morning I took the bus to work so that I wouldn't have to worry about picking it up on the way home tonight. For the same reason, I didn't take a lunch either. Because I didn't have much time between classes, I ended up just running over to the One-Coin Bakery for some bread. And they were great!

I'd forgotten how good that bakery was! I kind of stopped going around the middle of February when I went off sugar. Before that, it was impossible for me to walk into that place without walking with a few pastries. They're so good! And only $1 each! How cheap is that?!

Anyway, I didn't have time to be picky about where I was going to get something to eat yesterday and there's no way I was going to Popular (the convenience store next to my school). The food there...well...let's just say that it leaves a little bit to be desired...

So, I went to the bakery and picked up three things-non of them sweet! It was one of the hardest things I've done in a while! Ha ha!

Well, they were great! One was just a hash brown and I know that $1 is a bit pricey for a hash brown, but it was great! Crispy and spicy!

One was what Japanese people call 'Bacon Ebi'. I have no idea. Does it look like shrimp? Kind of I guess...

But the one that really was awesome was the 'Basil Dog'. It was a wiener coated in a creamy basil sauce and wrapped in a slightly soft crusty roll. For a dollar?! Well worth it!

So, if you're hungry the next time you come to school, swing by the One Coin Bakery and give them a try! There's tons of stuff to choose from.

Enjoy the rainy holiday today! Tomorrow it'll be sunny and warm!
