No surprise here...

Good morning everyone,

Sorry for the small, boring, black font this morning and the fact that the pictures are all different sizes...the blog provider is acting up and not letting me edit it...hopefully, it'll be fixed by tomorrow...

Well, the forecast has taken a turn for the worse. They are now calling for rain starting after lunch today and continuing...well, continuing for the whole week. That's right. As of right now, they are calling for rain today, tomorrow, the next day, the next day and the next day! If you lost count of the days-that's 5 days in a row of rain in the forecast! Where did I put my rubber boots!?

I haven't seen any magazine like this in Japan, but back home there is a magazine called 'Consumer Reports'. It's too difficult to explain in a short blog, but basically it rates any and all kinds of products for consumers. It's so handy to check out when you are shopping for things that you don't know much about-like me shopping for a washing machine. I don't know half of the things they do these days. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me that there's one out there now that will wash, dry and fold my clothes for me! Ha ha!

Anyway, the August edition of Consumer Report ranks fast food companies. I doubt many Americans or Canadians will be surprised with the results, but I guess a lot of Japanese people will be.

Do you know the top three fast food restaurants in Japan? (not including domestic ones).

They are McDonald's, Kentucky Fried Chicken or KFC as we call it, and Subway. All three of them were ranked worst in their category! That's right! The worst sandwich shop is Subway. The worst chicken shop-KFC. And the worst hamburger shop-McDonald's.

And to top it off, McDonald's was given the lowest rating of all fast food shops regardless of category!

So, please don't think that we 'love' McDonald's. It isn't true! There are so many good burger shops to choose from. Where are people getting their fast food these days then (because we're certainly not eating any less! Ha ha!)

The highest ranked burger shop was '5 Guys Burgers and Fries'. Not exactly the catchiest name in the world, is it? But their burgers were given a thumbs up...I can see why...

Honestly, they look way too big for me and there's no way I'd be able to eat all those fries! But I'll still try one when I'm home...maybe I'll have half for lunch and save the other half for dinner! Ha ha!

If you're in the mood for a chicken sandwich, drive right past KFC and pull into Chick Fil A.

It looks pretty good...I must admit that I don't chicken sandwiches, probably because the only two I've ever eaten were from McDonald's and KFC...oops! Bad call on my part! Ha ha!

Finally, if you're feeling guilty after all that meat and fried food and want to try something a little healthier, the highest rated sandwich shop is called Panera Bread.

It looks great! I've never seen one before, but it looks great! I'll definitely be heading there if there's one in Toronto!

If you are heading to Canada or the US this summer and are looking to try some 'fast food', give one of those places a try. You'll come away with a much better idea of what we actually 'like', rather than just having an image of huge conglomerates that make food as fast and cheap as they can!

Have a great day!
