I'm excited about the flight home!

Good morning everyone,

Well, I don't care if they've officially announced it or not. I'm declaring 'rainy season' over in Hiroshima. It's going to be sunny, hot and humid every day for the next week with highs in the low to mid 30s. The lows will be in the mid 20s! I'm sitting here writing my blog at 5:15 in the morning and I'm already sweating!

I couldn't find any 'good' things in the news today...man, was it depressing reading the newspapers this morning. It almost made me want to move back home! Then I remembered that the news is depressing everywhere...

Anyway, it's no surprise that I would be excited about my trip home. However, the big difference this year is that I'm also excited about the flight too! No, Norika hasn't emailed me and invited me to join her in First Class...I'm still waiting...

What IS exciting is that I can fly in the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner!
That's right! I'll be flying in luxury...well, relative luxury. I will, after all, still be in Economy Class...unless I get that magical bump up to Business Class. It's never happened to me  yet and seeing as I only fly about once a year, it's unlikely to happen anytime soon, is it?  Ha ha!

Anyway, back to the Dreamliner...here are some of the features that will make it fun to fly in!

But more than the technical features, it'll be nice to fly in a new plane, don't you think? I can't remember the last time I've flown in a new plane...I wonder if it has a 'new plane' smell...You know, like a 'new car' smell. I don't know about Japanese people, but back home we try to keep that 'new car' smell as long as we can! And there's no way to duplicate it...once it's gone, it's gone. Then we're stuck with the smell of pine trees...ha ha!

As a passenger, I'm looking forward to having my own charging station! That's right, on the Dreamliner, EVERY passenger has their own outlet! Heck, I can't even find an outlet in my bedroom! (Why are there so few outlets in Japanese homes?)  Naturally, I'm also excited about the comfy seating, extra legroom, and hi-tech screen to kill the time on the 12 hour flight.

I was seriously thinking about getting some sleeping pills before the flight to help me sleep, but now that I've found out I'm flying on a Dreamliner, I won't be able to sleep anyway! Ha ha! I won't leave it completely up to the Dreamliner to entertain me though, I'll still bring along a book or two and a magazine or two and I'm going to download some fun apps onto my iPad before I leave as well...any suggestions?

That's just one more reason to be thankful that I chose to fly out of Haneda instead of Narita. The other two reasons are that I can fly directly from Hiroshima to Haneda and the fact that Narita might be the most 'boring' airport in the world! I swear, I'd rather spend 4 hours at Marina Hop than I would at Narita! Ha ha! And for those of you who have never been to Marina Hop, trust me, that is saying something. Spending 4 ours at Marina Hop is a kind of torture!

Have a great day!
