News bits...

Good morning everyone,

It's that time of year when I don't have to tell you what the weather is like. It's hot! It's humid. Nobody wants to go outside...ha ha! And it's going to be hot and humid for the rest of the week too. This week's forecast looks like this...Today 32C, tomorrow 31C, Wednesday 32C, Thursday 33C, Friday 32C...and so on...whew! I need an ice cold beer!

It's been a while since I did an update on the news...I think the last one was in January. I hope you aren't reading this blog to keep caught up on what's happening! If you do, you'll be about 6 months behind the times! Ha ha! Anyway, if you haven't been watching the news, here's what's happening in Japan at the moment...

*Japan's Supreme Court has declared that the government doesn't need to pay welfare to foreigners. As a foreigner living in Japan, I find this outrageous. I pay taxes at the same rate as Japanese can I not qualify for support from the government?! And the dumbest part of this story...the woman was born in Japan and has lived in Japan her whole life, but she is stilled considered a foreigner...

*A woman was walking home from work and was jumped by some guy who stole her underwear. That's what the headline said...why didn't it say a woman was sexually assaulted on her way home from work? He didn't just steal her underwear, he attacked her and ripped her underwear off! Let's call it what it really is-this guy is a sexual predator in the making!

*An 11-year old girl was kidnapped and held captive at some guy's home for a week before the police found her...despite the mother having given the police the licence number of the car and the fact that the guy lived only 8km away! What were they doing?! I'm glad I didn't depend on them to find my bicycle! I'd still be looking for it! Ha ha!

Hmmm...the news isn't very positive this week, is it?

Let's see if we can find one 'good news' story to finish on...

*A beach in Sendai that has been closed since the 2011 Tsunami, has re-opened! Now, it'll only be a matter of days till someone in Sendai complains about the noise, eh? Ha ha! Seriously though, it's great that they can enjoy the beach! And it's great for me too, because I had an excuse to look for pictures of women in bikinis!

I must be grumpy this morning! Sorry...I promise I'll come up with something fun for tomorrow's blog...

Have a great day!
