Need a nap at work...have you tried any of these?

Good morning everyone,

Does anyone else feel like the hot weather broke last night? I kept my windows open and there was a nice cool breeze blowing through my apartment. It's not like it's chilly or anything...highs this week will all be between 32C and 34C, but last night the breeze was cool. The end of the working is looking a bit grey and there's a chance of rain on Thursday, but it should clear up in time for those of you who are off this weekend to enjoy some hot, sunny weather.

We’ve all been there. Maybe it was an ill-advised night out the day before or a colicky newborn that wouldn’t sleep or just the crappy weather...but we’ve all had days at the office when we wanted nothing more than to curl up and take a nap. In fact, it’s more of a need than a want as you sit there, staring blankly at your computer screen. But sadly, napping at your desk can be seriously uncomfortable, not to mention grounds for termination. And using the 'ostrich' pillow (yes, it's a real thing!) is way too embarrassing...but it's looking really tempting to buy for my flight home...ha ha!

If you really need to grab a few winks and are willing to take the risk, though, here are some possible sleeping positions in manga-they're easier to understand that way...ha ha!

The artist says he drew the illustration after being asked how he sleeps at the office if he has no bed.

The positions are described as:

  • The ideal position: placing a mouse pad on top of a can of Red Bull is standard-because all you need is one can of Red Bull. I don't know how it became so popular. I sometimes have a can of it before a race, but it isn't that tasty and doesn't really seem to wake me up. Is it just really good marketing? Anyway, it's the best way to sleep at the office...
  • The surrender position: for when your shoulders are really tired, sometimes it might hurt your back...this looks more like a stretch that people do rather than a sleeping position. Has anyone tried this one?
  • The anima position: for when your shoulders and back are really tired, the height of the books is really important!
  • The ORZ position: for when your butt is tired, it’s really comfortable, but it's a pretty embarrassing position to be caught in...
  • The peace of the wage slave position: this is the max for comfort and impact if you are seen. You can definitely sleep for hours in this position! I guess this one could work if you were in the office alone after hours...I've never tried it though...I'll give it a shot later today and let you know...

So, how many of these have you tried? Which one suits you? Or have you got another one that you prefer? I don't even bother to try to sleep at work. I find it makes me more stressed because I can't relax...I just suck it up till I get home!

Have a great day!
