Food, food and more food!

Good morning everyone,

It's looking like this is going to be a gorgeous weekend! Highs will be 23C and 25C on Saturday and Sunday and it'll be mostly sunny both days!

It's perfect weather to enjoy eating outside. Now, if I were off this weekend, I'd definitely be having a bbq, but I'm working so I'll have to make do with second best, ok...third best, and that is going to a food festival. Second best would be going to someone else's bbq! Ha ha!

Luckily for us here in Hiroshima, this weekend is a great weekend to eat outside-not only because of the nice weather, but also because there is not one but two places to go if you want to enjoy something to eat and the fresh air at the same time!

If you're a fan of the flat grill or griddle, you can go to the 'Teppanyaki Grand Prix' at the old baseball stadium. It's being held today and tomorrow from 10-5 both days. I'd love to check it out. Basically, it's a collection of 'okonomiyaki' shops that want to show us they are worth visiting! Of course, it isn't only 'okonomiyaki', but lots of other kinds of food that you can find cooked on a griddle. It sounds like it'd be great...if only it was open a bit later, I'd definitely try to make it.

But that's ok! There's always next year! Besides that, this is also the weekend of the Hiroshima Food Festival put on by RCC. It's held, funnily enough near the RCC head office and spreads into the castle grounds and Chuo Park. It's a huge event every year and goes until 7pm both days. I haven't been for a couple of years because it's always held on a Saturday and Sunday-when I'm too busy to go. If I remember correctly, you can find all kinds of food from all over Japan...there were even some food stalls offering food from India, Thailand, and Australia when I went. I'm not sure about now, but if I were you and didn't have any special plans this weekend, I'd go and check it out! It's a bit crowded, but well worth it!

As for me, well, you know where I'll work! <sigh> Just kidding! To be honest, I'd love to go and pig out on the great food, but I've put on a kilo or so and haven't been training nearly hard enough for the upcoming running season, so it's probably just as well that I can't go! I don't need the extra calories! Ha ha!

Have a great day!
