Getting old...

Good morning everyone,

There's some good news in all of this cold weather...they are no longer calling for rain on Monday. C'mon! That's good news! Yeah, yeah. I know. I know. It's pretty damn chilly out there. But at least it's sunny! And it's not that bad. They've already started the 'snow plow trains' in Sapporo and they're calling for snow in Toronto. Here in Hiroshima? Well, it's going to be mostly sunny all week with highs between 15C and 17C. Those are normal temperatures for this time of year...

I went out with a few friends last night and realized two things.

One, I don't see my friends nearly enough. One of the guys lives in Australia and I've seen him more in the past year than one of the guys that lives in here in Hiroshima! How is that possible?! Well, I'm sure you've had a similar experience. Everyone is so 'busy' these days. We've all got things on the go and next thing you know...a year has passed and we haven't met...

But that's not why I feel like I'm getting old (from the title of today's blog).

And two...I feel like I'm getting old because I feel hungover today. How is that possible?! We went to an 'all-you-can-drink' bar. (I'll explain that to my Canadian friends another time) and I had 4 or 5 glasses of beer and then a pint at an Irish pub and I'm feeling a bit rough this morning. I remember when we would try as hard as possible to drink 7 or 8 glasses of beer during the all-you-can-drink time limit and still be up for more! And...and this is the most important part! Be feeling fine the next day! Not anymore...

The fact that I say, "I remember when..." Is also a pretty good indication that I'm getting old too! Ha ha!

Oh! And that 'ukon no chikara' stuff...don't buy it! It doesn't help! Or maybe I'd feel even worse if I hadn't drank it...hmmm...on second'd better give it a shot if you're planning on going drinking. Whatever helps, right!? Ha ha! For those of you who have never tried 'ukon no chikara', I'll explain it. It's a small bottle of over-the-counter medicine made from herbs that is supposed to help prevent a hangover. If you go to a convenience store in Japan on a Friday or Saturday night, you can usually see one or two people downing one of these before heading out for a drink! I did it last night...

And, you know what, I'm feeling better already! Hmmm...maybe there is something to this 'ukno no chkara' stuff after all...and maybe I'm not that old! Ha ha!

Have a great day!
