Good morning everyone,

I know they said that yesterday was supposed to be around 20C, but it didn't feel like it to me...Saturday and Sunday felt much warmer. And today and tomorrow are supposed to see rain off and on during the day with highs around 17C or 18C. It should clear up for Thursday and Friday and then rain again on Saturday (50% chance) before becoming sunny for Sunday. Highs all week will be around 17C or so.

It's been a while since I've bought a lottery ticket, but I'm going for it for this year's New Year Jumbo Lottery. The grand prize is 700,000,000 yen which translates to about $6.7 million Canadian. That's more than enough for me to retire on! And I can buy a house in Canada and Japan.

Seriously though, buying a lottery ticket is a waste of money in some people's eyes and in other people's opinion, it's a chance to get out of financial trouble. I can see both points of view, although you'd have to be pretty desperate to rely on winning the lottery to help you sort out your financial problems. You'd be better off robbing a bank!

For me, it's the chance to dream for a month or so...the tickets went on sale a few days ago and the draw is held around New Year's day, so that's one month of dreaming of what my life would be like if I won the whole shebang...

The first thing I'd do is travel...not anything too extravagant, but there are a few places I'd like to visit in the world. I'd start with a 3-month tour of Europe I think. After that, I'd come back to Japan and think about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life...technically I'd be able to retire with that much money if I managed it properly, but there's no way I could not do anything for the rest of my life...

What would you do?

Well, I love competing in running races and I'd love to try a triathlon so I'd enter a few more races every year and train for a triathlon. After that, if I still loved it, I'd consider opening a special store for runners, cyclers and swimmers. Not technically a sporting goods store, but a combination of sporting wear, training courses, team events, food preparation tips etc. specifically for people who want to compete in any of those events individually or as a biathlon/triathlon.

That would be a dream come true.

And, of course, having a house in Japan and Canada (and Hawaii too, if I can pull it off) would be nice too!

Other than that, I'm good. I don't need an expensive car or a gorgeous watch or the newest, latest gizmos. As long as my house is warm and full of love and I can spend my working life doing something I love, I'm happy. Oh, wait a second, that's already true for me...hmmm...maybe I don't need to buy a lottery ticket after all...well, I will...but just for the fun of it! (the house in Hawaii would be a nice bonus! Ha ha!)

How about you? Will you be buying a ticket and dreaming about how to spend your big winnings for the next month?

Have a great day!
