Christmas Spirit

Good morning everyone,

Ahhh...did you read anywhere that they were predicting snow last night? I certainly didn't! But this morning I woke up to about 5 or 6cm of snow on my balcony-and on my laundry! I guess I'll be doing laundry again on Friday! Ha ha! Tomorrow shouldn't snow, but both today and tomorrow will see highs of only 4C or 5C. It'll warm up Friday and Saturday, but they're calling for rain or snow on Saturday. From Sunday, it'll cool down again and we'll see highs around 7C or 8C for the beginning of the week.

Yesterday was one of those days that completely messed me up. I kept feeling all day that it was Saturday. It's probably because I had to go to work and meet with a potential student (for a group business class at their office), so it doesn't feel like I had a day off this week. I'm already knackered and it's my first day of work! Ha ha! By the time Monday rolls around, I might not be in very good shape to teach-so the rule this week is 'no difficult questions', ok? :)

I finally put up my tree at home. It's a bit late (ok, really, REALLY late) but I didn't really have any time or inclination to put it up. Every year in Hiroshima I feel the same way-it just doesn't really feel like 'Christmas'. It always did when I was working at Nova, mainly because I was working with a bunch of other teachers and the excitement about Christmas is infectious. Now, working alone, I don't get to feed off of anyone else's excitement and I'm just too busy and tired all the time to try and create it by myself.

It slowly builds up and by the time Christmas rolls around I can usually find it, but it's only for a few days. Back home, the feeling of 'Christmas' usually lasts from the beginning of December to early January. It certainly makes me homesick this time of year.

I suppose that's why I always make it a point to make Christmas dinner-sometimes even only for me! It isn't very fun eating roast chicken or turkey alone, but it sure beats the alternative, which is me sitting at home and feeling sorry for myself! Ha ha!

What I need to do is think about what I want to ask Santa for Christmas this year! That will definitely get me in the spirit! And I've been a good boy this year, so I can expect to find some nice presents under the tree on Christmas morning!

How about you? Have you been naughty or nice?

Have a great day!
