Have another cuppa' Joe!

Good morning everyone,

The weather was pretty bad yesterday, but I lucked out, I must say. It wasn't raining when I headed to work in the morning and by the time I was heading home, it had slackened off to the point where it was just spitting. Today and tomorrow will be nice with highs of 10C and partly sunny skies. Friday is supposed to be overcast and then rain on Saturday. Sunday is going to be the nicest day of the week with blue skies and a high of 15C. That's almost too warm to run...

You may call it Joe, mud, caffeine fix, mojo or just a cup of coffee.

Whatever nickname you've given it, yet another study has shown that moderate consumption of coffee is good for you. Typically, moderate consumption means 3-5 cups of coffee a day. (What they don't say is how big the cups are-I don't know about you, but I've seen some huge cups that must count as more than one! Ha ha!)

According to scientists in Korea who studied the health and coffee drinking habits of over 20,000 people, drinking moderate amounts of coffee reduces the risk of heart disease. This held true amongst all groups, regardless of whether they were young or old, exercised, drank alcohol or smoked.

That's good news for me. When I first started drinking coffee in university, I could only handle one cup without getting a stomach ache. I wasn't a big fan of coffee back then to be honest-for one, I'm a morning person, so I don't need the jolt of caffeine to kick start my day. Two, as I mentioned above, it gave me a stomach ache if I drank more than a cup. But like most new things I tried in life, I did it for a girl. There was a superhot girl in one of my classes that always brought a cup of coffee to class (long before it was trendy). So, I did my research and found a really cool café (again, long before they were trendy) and asked her if she wanted to check it out with me. I drank 3 cups of coffee with her (and thought my stomach was going to explode!), but it was worth it! Did I mention how hot she was?!

And that is how I started drinking coffee. Even now though, I still don't drink 3 cups a day. I can't believe 3-5 equals moderate consumption! That sounds like a lot to me! Doesn't it to you? But more than one study has shown that coffee is good for you-from reducing the risk of getting Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis and Type 2 diabetes to helping keep your arteries plaque-free.

And on top of that, it tastes good and makes you look more intelligent...and you might be able to meet a superhot woman (or man) at the local café! It's like a drink from the gods! Ha ha!

Have a great day!
