Suing Starbucks

Good morning everyone,

It's not raining outside yet, but it certainly will start at some point today and then we're going to be spending the next week or so under cloudy skies with rain almost every day. Sunday is looking like the warmest day of the week, with a high of 23C and then it'll slowly get cooler and cooler till we see highs of only 13C or so by midweek.

As you may or may not know, I've been working without a day off for about 3 weeks now and I have to say that I now know what they mean in Japan when they say 'karoshi'-literally 'working yourself to death'. I'm seriously knackered. And when I'm tired, I become clumsier and I don't have as much patience either. Also, it's not very much fun just waking up, going to work, getting home and going to bed and then repeating that ad nauseam. Luckily, I'm only doing it for about 5 weeks or so, which means I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, so it's not too bad. For those people who can't see the end, it must be very frustrating.

One of the funny things that happened to me was one night I finished work early and decided to head to Starbucks for a coffee for the first time in ages. The new school is in Kokutaiji, so I swung by the Starbucks in the NHK building. Have you been there recently? It's been completely renovated...well since the last time I was there, so it may have been given the facelift more than 3 years ago! Ha ha! Anyway, I couldn't even decide on what coffee I wanted because my head was so foggy, so I settled on a  latte which is always a good choice. I grabbed a seat at the counter overlooking Peace Boulevard and proceeded to do a crossword puzzle and just people-watch for an hour or so.

That hour passed way too quickly. I swear I could have sat there for another hour easily...but it was time to head home and get some shuteye. I bent over to put my stuff in my bag and when I stood up, I gave my head a good crack on the window sill. It still hurts and that was like 4 days ago! I have no idea why they have a huge sharp corner sticking out of the glass window at exactly head height, but I can't be the only person who has smacked their noggin on it! Or maybe I am...everyone else is probably getting enough sleep and therefore are a bit more careful than me...ha ha! Does that make me special? Ha ha!

Anyway, have a great day! And make sure you take some time off work. The quality of your life will improve...and you won't be banging your head off of window panes at Starbucks either...ha ha!
