Tempting coffee (?)

Good morning everyone,

Well, there's a 60% chance of rain this afternoon and evening and the daytime high will be 22C, so I think our Indian Summer has come to an end. And if you're still not convinced, by this Sunday the high will only be 15C. That's a far cry from the 24C highs we've been enjoying up until yesterday. The good news is that apart from today, we're not expecting any rain this week.

The question mark in the title of this blog isn't about whether or not these drinks are tempting (they definitely are!), but whether you can actually call them 'coffee' or not...anyway...

It’s that time of year again! Starbucks Japan has announced their line of holiday beverages and goodies! Yes, it’s amazing how quickly a year seems to go by, isn’t it?

This year, the coffee chain will be offering drinks featuring caramel and toffee (and plenty of whipped cream), and if that’s how they’re expressing their holiday spirit, well, I have to say, “Bring the holiday sweetness on!!!”

This year, Starbucks’ holiday menu in Japan will include the Crunchy Caramel Toffee Latte and Crunchy Caramel Toffee Frappuccino in their usual red Holiday Season cup. I can usually resist these beverages, but somehow Starbucks makes up the most delicious sounding names! It's hard to resist a drink called a Crunchy Caramel Toffee Latte, don't you think? Well, as long as you're not expecting to taste any coffee...ha ha!

Star 1-2

The Crunchy Caramel Toffee Latte is a combination of espresso and steamed milk topped with an almond caramel sauce and a sprinkling of caramel toffee chips and crushed almonds to add a bit of crunchy texture. The Frappuccino too contains caramel toffee chips and almonds mixed into the frozen drink for a rich caramel taste almost like a dessert.  And if you’re in the mood for piling on the flavors, they’re recommending extra hazelnut syrup for the Latte and chocolate chips for the Frappuccino…yum! Plus, they’ll also be bringing back the Gingerbread Latte (which I used to drink every week when I was living in Tokyo and Morioka) this winter, which should add some delightful spice to your Holiday beverage selection.

The two caramel toffee drinks and the Gingerbread Latte will be available from November 5 to December 25.

▼ Yes, you can face the colder weather with these warm and sweet drinks!

Star 2

And of course, the  holiday season also means a whole bunch of  seasonal Starbucks products, many of which quickly sell out. So, if you're one of those people who likes to get in on the seasonal stuff sold by Starbucks, you'd better get in there as soon as you can after November 5th.

Star 3

This year’s offerings include a colorful array of items, including Holiday Bearista Dolls in a luxurious seasonal costume and mugs and tumblers in a variety of shapes and sizes and all of them are between Y1700 and Y2300. I don't drink coffee at home, but I have to admit that some of those cups look pretty cool!

Once again, it seems like Starbucks will be offering plenty of warmth and pleasure in their signature red cup this winter. Caramel, toffee, gingerbread….mmm, I knew there was a really good reason to look forward to the holiday season! But only AFTER the Kobe Marathon!

Have a great day!
