End of year cleaning

Good morning everyone,

Whatever you do, don't forget to take your umbrella today. It's going to rain most of the day and overnight and into tomorrow as well with the rain becoming quite heavy at times. It should stop raining sometime tomorrow during the day and then it'll be a bit overcast on Saturday and we're looking at a sunny Sunday with highs in the mid-teens all the way through to the middle of next week.

It's that time of year again. Everyone's busy with end-of-year parties, finishing up projects at work, catching up with old friends and making plans for the holidays. It's pretty much the same back home. Most of us over-indulge during Christmas-we eat more than usual, drink more than usual, spend more than usual and exercise less than usual. This year, I'm going to cut down on all three...I hope.

I'm planning on spending at least two days of my holiday giving my house a serious cleaning. I can feel it-this is going to be one of those years when I'm utterly ruthless about getting rid of stuff I don't use anymore.

But I'm also using my big cleaning plans to be a bit lazy in December. Are you the same? I know that I'll be giving my place a major scrubbing in a couple of weeks, so I haven't bothered doing any cleaning this past week or so beyond the usual sweeping, dusting and throwing out the garbage.

There are two ways to think about it I guess. You can either start cleaning more than usual from the beginning of December so that when you get to the end of the month, the 'big' cleaning day isn't as hard. Or, you can be like me, and save up some of the cleaning for the big day, because you know that when you finish cleaning, it'll look so much cleaner. It enhances your sense of accomplishment in my opinion. So, which one are you?

I usually belong to the first group, but this year, I'm definitely in the latter group. I think it's because it seems like there are so many things I want to clean up and get rid of that it feels too big to do in just one day. I'm the kind of person who wants to finish something completely once I start it, so it's hard for me to just do a bit of cleaning here and there before the holidays, even though it'd make it easier to do my 'spring' cleaning once my holidays roll around.

But, it'll feel so great once I throw everything out! I'm really looking forward to that!

Have a great day!
