Living in the boonies saves you money

Good morning everyone,

Well, it's looking like Mother Nature is conspiring to keep me from going for a run today. It's going to rain most of the morning and then be cloudy in the afternoon. Tomorrow is looking like the nicest day of the week, with sunny skies and a high of 16C. Wednesday and Thursday will also be warm, but unfortunately it's looking like rain both days. From Friday it's going to clear up, but it's going to be a fair bit cooler with highs around 9C or 10C.

It looks like it's going to be one of those lazy days for me...if I can drag myself out of the house, I may go and check out the new Star Wars movie. You'd think that I'd be a huge fan, because everyone my age loved that movie. I never really got into it...probably because I didn't see the movie till I was a bit older. One of the prices I paid for living in the boonies. Ha ha!

One thing I will say is that living in the middle of nowhere probably saved my parents a fortune because they didn't need to go out and buy every faddish thing that we kids wanted. For one, it was too far away to go get them, but mostly it was because we never heard of them until it was too late! ha ha! By the time the news of some amazing toy/cuddly creature/faddish fashion/whatever was trendy made it to our house, it had already passed. Ha ha!

Although, I will say that I had a pretty cool set of Hot Wheels when I was a kid. Apparently, those toys are pretty valuable as collector's items now.  There is no way I could have ever sold mine for any money though-mine were very well used. I remember creating entire cities in our yard and driving the cars through them. Those cars sometimes spent entire weeks outside.

Living in the city now, I feel more pressure to keep up on trends and go to cafés...although that feeling is passing now. I drink instant coffee at work and haven't bought anything trendy in ages. In fact, now that I think about it, I haven't bought anything for myself in ages...maybe I'll ditch the trip to see Star Wars (which I'm not that interested in anyway) and do some shopping for myself. I could always use another sweater...hmmm...nah...I'll wait till they go on sale!

Have a great day!
