Warm weather is great, but...

Good morning everyone,

It's going to be a bit cooler today, but at least it isn't going to rain. Was it supposed to rain yesterday? I didn't see it anywhere in the forecast, but I certainly remember riding home in it! ha ha! Luckily, it wasn't raining too hard at the time. Today will see highs of 13C and then the rest of the week will hover around 10C, which is pretty much normal for this time of year. Will winter finally show up?

We have an expression in English, "The only two things certain in life are death and taxes." Basically, it means that there's no way to say for sure what is going to happen except that you are definitely going to pass away one day and you are definitely going to pay taxes-nothing else is so definite.

I'd like to add one thing. "The only things certain in life are death and taxes AND farmers or fishermen using bad weather as an excuse to jack up the prices of vegetables." Ha ha! We've had the warmest winter on record so far and you'd think that would be a good thing, right? I can totally understand how a hotter than usual summer could damage crops (Japan is already insanely hot), but how could a warm winter hurt production? Beats the heck out of me. But the fishermen are crying poor-saying that their seaweed farms aren't producing and that they aren't catching as many fish due to the warm weather...so guess what. That's right! They are going to be raising the prices on nori and fish...again.

I wonder how long it'll be before the farmers jump on board and start justifying higher costs for vegetables and meat...ha ha!

Have a great day!
