Komeda's Coffee

Good morning everyone,

Did you get caught in the rain yesterday? Luckily, it arrived a few hours later than they had forecast, so I was already safely at home. They've changed the weather forecast for today and we're no longer expected to get any rain. It'll be overcast, so hopefully it'll help keep the temperature down a bit...as for the rest of the week, we're looking at highs in the mid 30s, so keep hydrated and take care.

Have you been to Komeda's Coffee shop? I went for the first time yesterday and it was pretty good. They've opened a shop in Otemachi (there's no way I was going all the way to Omachi or Hatsukaichi just for a coffee, no matter how good it iwa), so I figured I'd give it a try.

And, it was pretty good. It's pretty hard for me to judge a coffee shop in the summer, because I always order 'iced coffee' and I don't think it's fair to judge a coffee shop on their coffee unless you try the fresh-brewed stuff. So, yeah, it was good. The atmosphere was nice and it was pretty quiet compared to other cafes.

But the best part was the free toast!

That's right, if you go in the morning, you get a free slice of toast with your choice of toppings-you can either get a hard-boiled egg, scrambled eggs, or azuki spread (like a sweet bean jam) to put on your toast. Did I mention that it was free?! I opted for the hard-boiled egg-although a soft-boiled one to dip my toast into would have been perfect, beggars can't be choosers, right?

I can't remember the last time I had a hard-boiled egg, but it was good. It brought a ton of memories back from my childhood...

If you're out and about in Otemachi in the morning and, for some reason, skipped breakfast, swing by Komeda's-you can get a coffee, a slice of toast and a hard-boiled egg for only Y420. Try and beat that deal somewhere else.

Have a great day!
