Hmmm...shouldn't he be training?

Good morning everyone,

It's hot.

So, Uchimura is a fan of Pokémon Go? Maybe not anymore...the reigning Olympic and world champion confided on Sunday he was hit with a Y500,000 data roaming bill after becoming hooked on Pokemon Go since arriving in Brazil for the Rio Games.

Uchimura said he downloaded the app when he touched down in Sao Paulo for pre-Olympic training camp and just like so many around the world, became instantly hooked -- not knowing he didn't have a flat rate for overseas data usage.

When Uchimura checked his bill, he couldn't believe his eyes.

"Y500,000..." sighed the defending six-time world champion.

Added teammate Kenzo Shirai, "He looked dead at the team meal that day."

Uchimura, though, was ultimately spared most of the huge bill after contacting his phone company to explain the situation. In the end, he got away with the daily flat rate of Y3,000.

"I really lucked out," Uchimura said.

Make sure you get a flat rate for roaming fees when you're overseas-but if you ask me, Y3.000 a day is still pretty expensive. Maybe if you're the 5-time world champion, you can afford it. If you're poor like me, you get a pre-paid phone or pocket Wi-Fi and it's about Y3,000-Y5,000 a month...

Anyway, I'm glad he learned his lesson and hopefully he'll be focussing his energy on capturing a gold medal, not a Pokémon character from now...ha ha!

Have a great day!
