Good morning everyone,

It's starting to feel like the end of summer here. Yesterday I wore shorts again, but I really needed to wear a long-sleeve shirt at night. Today, I might have to wear jeans, well, maybe after dinner anyway. It'll be around 23C here, but it's supposed to warm up tomorrow and over the weekend. Unlike your weekend, which is looking like it's going to be very wet...I'm hoping the typhoon does what they normally do and turn north or south to bypass Hiroshima City, but at the moment it looks like it's bearing down on you. Be careful!

Yesterday, I spent the day with my friends and their kids and gave them their souvenirs. They loved the shirts (Hello Kitty for the girls and Carp for the boys) and the cute erasers I gave them. The biggest hit by far though were the Kit Kats. I searched far and wide to find as many different flavors as I could for the kids. I ended up having a ton of different kinds. I had dark chocolate, macha, raspberry, pancake (from Easter), azuki, wasabi, sake...and a couple of other ones that I can't think of off the top of my head. Of all of those, which one do you think was the most popular? Well, they're kids, so yeah, it was the pancake one...ha ha!

My friends also enjoyed the tsukemono I took them-thanks to the people who gave me some to pass on or recommended good places to pick them up. There weren't any that they didn't like-even my parents liked the umeboshi!! And we all got a good kick out of the $1.00 goods I got for them from Daiso (the Japanese version of the dollar store). They said they're going to try the egg ones-the ones where you poke a hole in the bottom of the egg before boiling to make sure the yolk always stays perfectly in the middle. Its great for salads and devilled eggs. I wrote about them a while ago...

Anyway, Have a great day!
