New Haagen-Dazs flavour...

The nice fall weather will continue today and through the next couple of days. Sunday is looking overcast and we might see some rain on Monday. Temperatures will continue to be seasonal with daytime highs around 23C and overnight lows in the mid-teens.

Autumn is a time when the leaves change colour, the weather cools, and in Japan, if we’re lucky, Häagen-Dazs releases a new flavour of Japonais ice cream. Previous releases included some of Japan’s best flavour combinations with tastes like matcha green tea and azuki, vanilla and kinako powder with brown sugar syrup, and strawberry and azuki flavours. This year, it’s time for the Kurumi Kuromitsu Koshian, which promises to be a delightful mix of walnut, brown sugar syrup, and smooth red bean paste flavours.


The popular Japonais line of ice creams doesn't release a new flavour every year, so this one looks set to be one of the most sought-after desserts this autumn. This is the seventh Japonais release and it has a lot more different flavours than ones in the past. It contains vanilla and brown sugar syrup-flavoured ice creams seasoned lightly with soy sauce, along with a smooth layer of red bean paste, topped with a crunchy walnut topping and a brown sugar syrup sauce. It sounds a little busy to me...but you know I'm going to be one of the first people to try one! ha ha!

Available from October 18th at 7-Eleven stores across Japan for Y370 (plus tax), the new Japonais ice cream won’t be around for long...
