Cup noodle-summer style

Good morning everyone,

We can expect nice, sunny weather today with a high of 28C-not too shabby, eh? Actually, the weekend will be nice too. They are saying that we may see cloudy skies on Tuesday and Wednesday though...

While this week isn't looking too bad, we are quickly entering the summer season, which is also traditionally known as “the suckiest season in Japan.” With its abundance of cockroaches, sweat, giant hornets, humidity, sweat, typhoons, and…sweat, there isn’t much to look forward to.

At least there wasn’t until Cup Noodle announced a promising reprise from the stifling heat with this year’s release of Cup Noodle Somen. This unique blend is designed to be enjoyed ice cold and also has a hint of citrus flavor for a cooling tropical taste.

It’s made just like a regular Cup Noodle, but by plunking a few ice cubes in it, a whole new dimension of satisfaction is unlocked. Of course, if you’re a cup noodle purist who insists on having it hot even in the most scorching of weather, no worries, just forget about the ice cubes-you can still have it your way!

Cup Noodle Somen Yuzu Flavor has tender wheat noodles submerged in a sea bream broth accentuated with the tastes of chicken and kombu along with a little touch of citrus yuzu. Mixed into it all are tiny balls of fish meat and egg, green onion, and kamaboko (steamed fish paste) in the shape of pink flowers-so it may not be the manliest of choices if you care about that sort of thing.

If the icy noodles aren't enough to cool you down, the packaging may help a little. It's got a glass wind chime as well as Hokusai’s Shore of Tago Bay, Eijiri at Tokaido printed on the cup.

This may be the best Y180 you spend this summer...

Have a great day!
