I need to go for a run...

Good morning everyone,

As usual, we weren't really affected by the typhoon that hit the area here in Hiroshima...other than a bit of wind and rain for a few hours, it was pretty uneventful. Today is expected to be a scorcher, oh...and so is the rest of the week. We'll see highs hover somewhere between 33C and 36C all week, but they are calling for the weather to be a bit cloudier than it has been, so it might not feel quite as hot...here's hoping.

How much longer till I can run outside? I feel like it's been ages (it's actually been about 3 weeks) since I've been able to go for a run in the great outdoors. I know. I know. Every summer in Hiroshima is painfully hot, but this is the first summer that I've actually felt like it was risky to run outside...even at 5 in the morning.

So, I've been running on treadmills at my gym, at Green Arena and at the 'Y'. (It means YMCA.)

And it sucks. I don't know how people can do it every morning. It's so boring and I feel like a hamster...just running and running and never getting anywhere.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but I swear it isn't as good for me as running outside...it's missing that 'je ne sais quoi' that running outside has.

Of course I'll keep it up for now-because I need the exercise, but I'm really hoping that the heat breaks as soon as possible, so I can go outside for a proper run. If that does happen and you see a fat, old white guy running along the river with tears running down his face, it'll be me. But don't worry-they'll be tears of joy at not having to run on a treadmill...

Have a great day!
